The Testosterone kit is designed for the fast quantification of the steroid hormone in cell-based and enzymatic formats.
For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. All products to be used in accordance with applicable laws and regulations including without limitation, consumption & disposal requirements under European REACH regulations (EC 1907/2006).
Testosterone is a steroid hormone synthesized from 17a-hydroxy progesterone by the enzymes 17,20-lyase and 17ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase in the gonads of both males and females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. It plays an important role in the stimulation and the development of masculine characteristics by its fixation of androgen receptors.

The testosterone assay is based on the competition principle, where native testosterone produced by cells and XL665-labelled testosterone compete for binding to a monoclonal anti-testosterone antibody labelled with Europium Cryptate.
The testosterone assay features a streamlined protocol with only two incubation steps: - Cell stimulation by target compounds - Testosterone detection using HTRF reagents This protocol requires a single one-hour incubation period following cell stimulation.
