These PhenoPlate 384-well microplates for high content imaging applications are fibronectin-coated and are available in black in a 384-well format. The microplates benefit from a film bottom made of cyclic olefin, a plastic that has glass-like optical properties, providing superior image quality and also good cell adherence. They have an ultra-low plate bottom (0.2 mm) for better well access when using water immersion and high NA objectives, and a new design, low profile polystyrene lid for reduced evaporation.
Fibronectin is a glycoprotein found in the extracellular matrix of animal tissues, and it is involved in cell adhesion, migration, and signaling. Coating microplates with fibronectin provides a substrate that mimics the natural cellular environment and enhances cell adhesion, enable better growth and maintenance of cells. Fibronectin-coated microplates facilitate a broad range of experiments and assays where studying cell behavior in a controlled and physiologically relevant environment is essential. As such, fibronectin-coated microplates are widely used in cell culture to improve the attachment and growth of cells. This is particularly valuable for primary cells or certain epithelial and mesenchymal cell lines which may not adhere well to uncoated surfaces. Fibronectin-coated microplates are often used in stem cell culture as it provides a supportive environment for the maintenance and expansion of stem cells, helping to preserve their pluripotency or differentiation potential. Fibronectin-coated microplates are also utilized in assays designed to study cell migration and invasion which are essential in development, wound healing, and disease progression. Additionally, fibronectin-coated microplates are employed in studies focusing on cell signaling pathways as well as in drug screening and toxicity testing.
