Interleukin 25 (IL-25), also known as interleukin 17E is a member of the IL-17 family that is secreted by lymphocytes to stimulate the production of IL-4, IL-5 and IL-13, all mediators of inflammation. IL-25 is mainly expressed by cells in the digestive system and plays a major role in immunity of the gastro-intestinal track. However, it is also involved in inflammation of those tissues. IL-25 is also known as an anti-tumor agent in these tissues, preventing colon, pancreatic and liver cancer. This kit allows for the detection of IL-25 in biological samples.

AlphaLISA® technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity. The excitation of the Donor beads causes the release of singlet oxygen molecules that triggers a cascade of energy transfer in the Acceptor beads, resulting in a sharp peak of light emission at 615 nm.
