Overview

Tau, also known as MAPT (Microtubule Associated Protein Tau), is a phosphoprotein that is mostly produced in neurons of the central nervous system and is involved in microtubule construction and stability. Around 85 Tau phosphorylation sites are present, and numerous kinases, including CDK5, MAP kinase, and GSK3 (Tau's primary kinase), can phosphorylate these sites. Numerous neurodegenerative diseases, including Tauopathy, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's, are characterized by Tau hyperphosphorylation and aggregation.

The AlphaLISA SureFire Human Phospho-Tau (Thr181) Detection Kit is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of phospho-Tau (Thr181) in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
