Interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) is a part of the IRF family which is involved in the regulation of interferon α and β and play a role in host anti-viral immune regulation, cell growth, and hematopoietic development. In viral infected cells, phosphorylation of transcription factor IRF3 induces the production of antiviral and proinflammatory cytokines, a key element in the type 1 interferon-independent innate immune response. IRF3 is activated downstream of the STING signaling pathway and toll-like receptor signaling pathway. IRF3 is associated with cancer and autoinflammatory disease.

The AlphaLISA SureFire Ultra Phospho-IRF3 (Ser386) assay is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of phospho-IRF3 (Ser386) in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
