Estrogen Receptors (ERs) are a group of proteins found inside cells and exist in two classes: ERα and ERβ. ERs are activated by estrogen and are able to translocate into the nucleus and bind to DNA to regulate the activity of different genes, but also have functions independent of DNA binding. ERs are expressed in >70% of all breast cancers with ERα being the main target in clinical approaches for controlling hormonally responsible breast cancer. ERα is associated with a variety of other cancers, including prostate, liver, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
The AlphaLISA SureFire Ultra Human Total ERα Detection Kit is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of total ERα in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
