Overview

BRD9 (Bromodomain-containing protein 9) is closely related to Bromodomain-containing protein 7 (BRD7), both of which are members of the Bromodomain-containing Proteins Family IV. BRD9 binds acetylated lysine residues of histones, mediating chromatin remodeling and regulating transcription and is therefore involved in pluripotency regulation and cell development. BRD9 overexpression is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and cancers, such as acute myeloid leukemia. Targeting BRD9 degradation with PROTAC molecules has emerged as a novel therapeutic approach. Since BRD9 and BRD7 proteins share 72% residue similarity, compounds are likely to target both the pro-oncogene BRD9 and the tumor suppressor BRD7, suggesting that selectivity of compounds targeting either BRD9 or BRD7 must be carefully investigated.

The AlphaLISA SureFire Human and Mouse Total BRD9 Detection Kit is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of total BRD9 in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
